Using story wands to answer questions about Mouse and the Motorcycle

Learning about common root words like bio, mono, bi, tri, geo, cardio and agri. We discussed how these are root words that show up a lot in our reading and it is helpful to know what they mean. It is helpful to know the root word so we can figure out the meaning of the word we are reading.
Learning to draw a bison in art.
We spoke about being a digital citizen this week. We read an article that had different scenarios of children learning how to make good decisions on the computer. The scenarios were about leaving positive comments on blogs, finding credible sources online, and computer viruses. Then, we signed this banner pledging to always be safe on the internet.

For homework this week, students had to write a paragraph describing a monster. Students then shared their monster writing with a partner. The partner had to draw the monster while their partner was reading. Partners then looked to see if the description of the monster and the drawing were similar. We had a class discussion on needing to add more detail and description to our writing. Ask your students about this experience.

Sharing out monster writing

Saniya's mom was the Mystery Reader. She read a great book about a dancer like Saniya. The book had a great lesson. Discuss the lesson of this book with your child.

Have a great weekend!
