Welcome to our classroom blog!!

Here are some of the activities/lessons that we have been working on. We have been busy exploring the wonders of learning!!

We read an article from Scholastic News that discussed video games in libraries. We ended up doing our own "mock" debate.
As your children are answering questions we are discussing what kind of question it is. Is it a question that has an answer right in the text or does it require thinking on your own?
We are working on asking questions while we read. These questions are from a book on coral reefs.
We finished Maltida a few weeks back. We made a Venn Diagram in our journals and then as a class. We compared Mrs. Kloczko vs. Ms. Trunchbul. Mrs. Kloczko has much nicer traits!
What Ocean Zone do you want to live in?
Ask your students about the 5 ocean zones and their characteristics.

Ocean art. We used food coloring, water, and salt!
Defining words that are part of our biome unit
Different strategies in reading on metacognition
Items we found around our house during the algin hunt
Big words we are finding and defining while reading. Keep reading!! Do lots of reading over winter break!

Our ocean anchor chart. Look at all the information we learned. This is not all of it. Ask your children to tell you three ocean facts. Deserts are next! Then the frozen tundra!
Ocean experiments on salt. Does salt freeze? Students conducted the experiment and went through the scientific method.
The reading corner! Students love checking out books. They read them at school or take them home.
Erin Dealy's funny and cute book, Deck the Halls. She came to school on the 22nd of November and presented this book. Students from all grades acted out this story.
Put said to bed!! Other words to use for said.

Stay tuned for another blog soon!!
